Join us to hear Madeline Ostrander’s talk, “The Power of Home in an Era of Climate Crisis.” Drawn from her book, At Home on an Unruly Planet, Ostrander will discuss what she has learned about hope, grit, and resilience from people who live on the front lines of climate change.  

Madeline Ostrander is a journalist who writes about humans’ ongoing struggles to find an appropriate place on this round, blue planet. Her writing has appeared in publications such as NewYorker.com, The Nation, The Atlantic, Audubon Magazine, and PBS NOVA. She’s received funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism, and the Fund for Investigative Journalism. She holds a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In her spare time, she tends a raspberry patch and makes frequent excursions by boot and bicycle into the extraordinary forest, mountain, and coastal landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.
