The Lummi Island quarry property is protected!
Together we have purchased and protected 105 acres and 4,000 feet of shoreline! This property, formerly known as the Lummi Island quarry, will now become the Aiston Preserve.
Thanks to our dedicated members, federal, state and county grants, and a league of private donors we have permanently preserved deep mossy forests, rocky shoreline, pocket beaches, eelgrass beds and Smugglers Cove. Now we can move forward to reclaim the mined area, restore the shoreline where it is damaged and create a unique saltwater access nature preserve with broad and permanent community benefits. We send an enormous Thank You to everyone who donated to the Aiston Preserve Campaign!
