Vision Statement 2025

Lummi Island Heritage Trust is widely recognized as a dynamic organization that has the expertise to preserve nature for future generations through land protection and community engagement.

History

Founded in 1998, Lummi Island Heritage Trust is a private, non-profit land trust dedicated to preserving land on Lummi Island. The Heritage Trust has protected 1,088 acres of our island's precious natural areas. Of this, 388 acres are owned by the Heritage Trust, including land managed as nature preserves, wildlife habitat, and forests. The remaining 700 acres are private lands protected by conservation easements.

Accreditation

The Heritage Trust proudly displays the Land Trust Alliance Seal of Accreditation, a mark of distinction in land conservation. This award lets the public know that the Heritage Trust has undergone an extensive, external review of the governance and management of our organization; and that the systems and policies we use to protect land meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust, and ensure that our conservation efforts are permanent.
